GOOD TO KNOW
The Pineapple – rich in vitamins and a replacement for the gastric juice
The ‘queen of tropical fruits’ is originally from South America and contains a lot of water and few calories. Nevertheless, it provides us with important nutrients, especially Vitamin C. We need it for a healthy immune system and it is important for the growth.
It also contains important minerals such as magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, iodine and especially manganese. Manganese is also very important for the growth and good metabolic processes.
But it contains a lot of fructose – therefore people who are on diet should enjoy pineapple in moderation!
It is also called a “healing fruit” because it can help against inflammations and thrombosis and it has an antibacterial effect.
Nice To Know:
When the pineapple is ripe, it can split up dietary protein due to the enzyme bromelain and therefore boost the protein digestion. So it can replace the gastric juice.
